Logos Global Network Members in Action: Community Faith Festival

The following is a letter received from one of our LGN members that we wanted to share with all of our friends. Just another of many grass roots outreach efforts going on each week. GOD IS ALIVE AND WELL....... Thank you, Cynthia, for sharing this with us.

On Saturday, November 3rd, we had a tremendous day as Cynthia Montello Ministries held a Community Faith Festival in one of Jacksonville’s most notorious drug and crime centered neighborhoods to rally the community for a day of faith, fun, music and food. An all day line-up of singers, rappers, preachers, evangelists, and testimonies blessed the crowd including Tom McManus, former NFL Jaguar linebacker. The Jacksonville Jam basketball team, cheerleaders and mascots also came to give demonstrations for the kids. The kids also enjoyed a playland, clown and facepainting.

The weather was perfect and we had a good crowd. So many people gave their lives to Christ. People were getting saved right in the street. There was one rapper, Jevon Chalwell, who was so great and he had such a powerful testimony. He had all the people dancing in front of the stage and during his testimony we saw people kneeling down in the grass and we knew they were giving their lives to Christ. It was amazing. People were crying and then laughing. We had over 100 children choose to follow God and we gave them T-shirts that say I CHOOSE TO FOLLOW GOD. We had prayer teams walking up and down the streets praying with people on their front porches and on the street. Many had been intimidated by the drug dealers not to come, but God reached them anyway because the music and preaching swept through the air and was heard all over the neighborhood. People were blessed and God’s Word went out.

Everything about the day and everything about the last 5 months of planning was God in control and it showed me so much about His glory and His provision and His ability to make things happen. As long as I prayed and then rested in Him and waited, He afforded the opportunity every single time and provided every need I had for this Festival. There was not one thing left out, not one thing missing. This Festival was just the beginning of efforts to make a difference in this community and others just like it. Hope and help for children; helping women out of prostitution and off of drugs; helping teens to stop killing each other and to stop using and selling drugs is all part of God’s plan for these communities. Praise God for His power and Glory!!

The Benefits of Distance Education

In the past, if you sensed a call to ministry, you would have had to pack up your belongings, separate from your family, quit your job, and leave your church for 4 or more years in order to attend Bible college or seminary. All of that has changed with the onset of distance education.

Now you can enroll in Bible college or seminary and complete your degree in record time. You can work at your own pace and take as many or few courses as you'd like or are able. Distance education is as flexible as you need and want it to be. You can enroll in Associate Degree programs all the way to Doctoral studies without leaving your home. You can keep your job and not have to incur huge student loans which are a hindrance when trying to land your first staff position in the ministry.

On top of that you can minister in your home church, gaining valuable experience as you help your closest friends grow in the Lord, teaching them what is being taught to you. And did you know that the fastest growing trend in churches is to hire new staff from within the church family? You would not have to endure going to an unknown church and town. You can minister to those who are dearest to you without having to "earn" their trust, as you most likely already have it.

Polls have shown that the higher the educational level of ministry applicants, the higher the average ministry salary. Earning your degree for ministry can be a source of providing better for your family.

But the most important reason for getting a college or seminary degree is that it will enhance your effectiveness in ministry. You will feel more competent about what you are doing and you will have more credibility.

If you would like to pursue a distance education degree in ministry, LOGOS may be for you. Take a few moments to visit our website or call us at 904-745-3311 to talk with one of our professors or deans. We can get you started in fulfilling your ministry and educational goals. And you won't have to leave home, church and family to do it.

A Macedonian Call From Nigeria

Paul responded to a plea for help from a man in Macedonia which resulted in the first church plant in Europe. I am asking you to respond to Bishop Samuel Imong’s plea for help in Nigeria. He and his wife, Bessie, have labored for years as directors of the Logos educational program in Nigeria and West Africa. Through their leadership, we have been able to acquire property in Callabar for a permanent home for Logos. As you can see from the picture, the walls are up but there is no roof or windows; hence the Nigerian ‘Macedonian’ call. I will be leaving for Nigeria on November 27th and would like to take the resources necessary to complete the job. I am asking you to help me raise the $5000.00 needed for this project. The rainy season will soon begin which can cause severe damage to the building if we don’t get the roof up. Please pray for and give to this very worthy need as we plant this vital beachhead for the expansion of Logos in all of West Africa. Just click on DONATE NOW and join us in this exciting work. You can also call 904-745-3311, ext 103 and make your donation by phone or mail your gift to Logos Global Network, 9000 Regency Square Blvd., Jacksonville, Fl 32211. Thank you for hearing and responding to my Nigerian ‘Macedonian’ call!!!!

A Super Quality Ministry Preparation

What does Superman have in common with LOGOS. Absolutely nothing. More and more secular universities are padding their programs with fluff or unnecessary courses. If you want to see an example, click here. At some "first tier" schools, a class like this can cost you $5,000. You can complete an entire program of study at Logos for considerably less than that.

At LOGOS, we are committed to creating a program of ministry preparation that is course specific to the needs of your ministry. We offer a core of courses that form the foundation for all ministry and then tailor make the rest of your program for your specific situation. No fluff, just good quality instruction.

Take a moment to visit our website and look over our catalog. But don't stop there! If you don't see what you want for your ministry preparation we will design special courses featuring our quality instructors to insure that you get what you need. Our goal is:

"training today's learners to be tomorrow's leaders."
